Bataan Journey

A Facebook post became viral recently about a place called Las Casas Filipinas De Acuzar that is only 1,000 php and will help you achieve your Instagram goals. Sadly we discovered that this post was incomplete, so here I am to provide you with a complete review, travel guide and expense breakdown should you wish to visit this lovely place!

Our travel time was a total of 7 hours but I guarantee it was so worth it! You will get to experience a beautiful beach and beautiful architecture with very interesting stories. The houses found in the resort are not replicas but original buildings, well the second floor at least, that belonged to the collection of Mr. Acuzar.

You will get the chance to see these lovely houses that belonged many prominent Filipino names. Even the first hotel in the Philippines is here and it is available for rent for events. This was were the ASEAN was held, sadly we don't get to see inside the convention hall but the facade is lovely as well! *commercial break* A little trivia that I learned during the tour is that when telephones were first introduced in the Philippines there were only two lines active Malacanang Palace (Telephone #: 1) and the Hotel de Oriente (Telephone #: 2). Now back to our lovely buildings!

Many of the homes in the resort is also available for rent. The price starts from 20,000 php up to 250,000 php per night.

You can rent this whole building for 80,000 php per night. Its comes with 2 Queen
sized beds on the second floor, a total of 4 shower rooms (1 on the 2nd floor and
3 on the third floor). This comes with a butler service and all the toiletries you will
use is from the brand Hermes.
The rooms are furnished with lovely furniture from the vanity mirrors to the bathtubs. The images on the side showcase the interior and the photo below shows one of the beds found in the 80,000 php room or as we call it "Hermes" building.
This is bed goals right here! Most of the beds in the rooms for rent are all 4 poster beds, so you definitely will feel like royalty when you stay the night!

If you are wondering, yes there is no separate bathroom for the tubs and shower, the only divider is a big vanity mirror which we did not forget to take a "bathroom mirror" selfie! Yes, it was a huge mirror and the big brown divider is also another mirror. This room is actually so perfect for me, it would give me place to put all my make up in but 80,000 php per night, maybe when I win the lottery!
Moving on, there are a total of 50 houses currently in the resort and more houses will be transferred soon. A church is also being built in the resort which will have masses every 10:30 in the evening. This is just the start of our morning and yes this is included in their 999 php package. For our foreign friends you need not worry, all of Las Casas tour guides and employees are trained to speak in English so you won't miss out on this lovely tour that would allow you a glimpse of Filipino history.

The walking tour lasts for about 1 hour and 30 minutes, it would give you the chance to go to different islands. You would also get the chance to visit a house that was part of the movie Heneral Luna, specifically the place where he was ambushed. It was such a lovely place, the beauty was so overwhelming but it was so worth it.
"Buhay pa ba yan?!"
That exact window the Aguinaldo's mother in the movie looked out from as Heneral Luna was continuously shot.
I actually had to sneak in to get a glimpse of this room, it was a small room with rather delicate floors since the whole second floor used the original wood.

Now another included in our package was the use of the beach. The Las Casas beach has black sand and the water is so clean and cool. We took a dip around 2PM when it wasn't that hot and there were only 2 groups (our group and a group of older people) using the beach. Should you need extra towels, you may rent towels from the lifeguards which cost 150 php each.

The water was pretty shallow and we couldn't swim further since the storm has just passed and they were still being cautious should the waves become stronger.

BEACH!

During our trip I only had two issues about the place and one is related to the beach, well specifically the distance of the beach and lifeguards from the shower area. Since the whole resort isn't 100% built yet, there was only one shower area and it was on another island! Though there was a make shift shower available, there were construction workers near the area so we chosen to take the 5 minute walk from the beach to the shower covered in sand.

Hopefully as they continue to work on the resort, near by showers would be made available to day time tour visitors.

Now for nutrition related aspect, walking for an hour you are bound to get hungry. The resort has 2 restaurants available, one offers tapas (snacks) and the other is Spanish-Filipino restaurant. This was something we forgot to do, if you are on a budget make sure to bring food from the outside (Mcdo or Jollibee). They have no regulations for bringing in food.
Should you decide to eat in the resorts restaurants the price range for the tapas cafe/restaurant is 200-600 php. They offer sandwiches, viands and rice. (Rice is 50 php per cup!) If you want to eat in the Spanish-Filipino restaurant their ala cart menu ranges from 300-600 php. If you want to take part in the buffet they offer you have to pay 850 php. There are also packages available for 1,200 php you get 1 lunch set and for 1,500 php you get to be part of the buffet.

Should you decide to eat in the resort, they have really big serving and it is delicious as well so the amount of money you will be paying for is worth it. Okay, I know this has been a long post so let us go down the the specific details of the trip. I have made a chart for you so you can have an estimate on how much you would be spending should you decide to take this trip.

So the chart just includes the basic items, food and miscellaneous items (like souvenirs and other things) are not included. That gives you the liberty to customize your budget to your needs, I have provided all needed information and (hopefully) didn't miss out on anything.

An extra tip, is to bring your own water. The second thing I did not like about the resort is the over priced items, 35 PHP for the tiny bottle of water. Tsk tsk, the resort is still working on things, so I can't wait to be a member and they are also very open to suggestion. So when you get the chance answer their survey,ok?

Should you have any other question or clarification, feel free to comment. Thank you for reading! ^_^
